Caring & Cleaning Wooden Furniture the Right Way

Wooden furniture is a treasured possession in any home and is usually considered as the classiest of all furniture choices. So it goes without saying that with good care and proper furniture cleaning, furniture can last for generations to come. Team Mobel has come up with 5 basic tips to prolong your furniture’s “life”. Let’s take a look at the tips here:
Dust Often
Dust may seem harmless, but it does more harm than meets the eyes. Enough buildup can scratch the wooden surface of your furniture. Hence, frequent dusting is a must. It removes dust that accumulates in a filmy layer. Experts at Mobel recommends to use a lightly dampen soft cloth or a microfiber cloth to effectively remove dust. A dampen cloth prevents the dust to scatter and float in the air, thereby effectively preventing it to settle on nearby furniture surfaces.

Mayonnaise To The Rescue
Worried that the wet glasses have left watermarks rings on your tabletop? Worry not. Bring out the mayonnaise. It works wonders to remove watermark rings from any furniture finish. All you need to do is spread a generous amount of mayonnaise on the affected area of your furniture and let it sit overnight. Wipe off next morning and kiss your worries goodbye.
Placement Matters
Did you know that wood in its natural state contains a surprising amount of moisture? It does. Hence, preserving the right amount of moisture levels is crucial. Never place furniture near fireplaces, heating vents or next to a window where it will sit in direct sunlight. The temperature swings can damage the wood with splitting, warping and fading. Position fine wood furniture away from heat and light and protect it from damage.
Arm Caps
Areas where bare skin comes to rest like the armrests, seat cushions; chair backs are mostly subjected to dirt and abrasion. Use arm caps to protect high-contact areas of furniture. The beauty of arm caps lies in the fact that they are beautifully tailored to fit snugly over sofa and chair arms.
