Kitchen Trends 2016

Wondering what the quintessential 2016 kitchen would look like? Our senior interior designers took a sneak peek at the hottest kitchen trends on the rise. Soft color schemes and smart Modular Kitchens are just a couple of the trends that is sure to lead the pack, says our team of interior design experts.

Mobel brings to you 3 trends that will define kitchen design this year.

Soft, Muted Color Scheme: Kitchen hues are changing rapidly and 2016 puts neutral palette right on top. Although white motifs will largely command the kitchen space, everything else from kitchen cabinets to backsplashes will have a strong influence of saturated tones. Also, kitchens are most likely to sport lightly stained wood tones like walnuts. A neutral well-designed light wood  kitchen is a safe choice. You can use it as either the central color or if you have a weakness for contrasting accents, you can always team it up in a two-tone kitchen.
Soft colors like pale blue, tinted whites, pale green, light gray are the new alternative to White. On the other hand, muted shades like pale yellow pastel, muted greens and blues can well be used as accent colors.

Modular-KitchenSmart Spaces: Hi-tech makeover is going to takeover every kitchen space by the end of 2016. With the rise of technology and smart devices, modular kitchens will have designated spots for smart devices very soon. The quintessential 2016 kitchen will have hidden charging points and stations to store smart devices like phones, tablets so that they can easily be accessible.

Modular-KitchenWell-Lit Cabinetry: Gone are the days when ceiling lights were the primary mode of illuminating one’s kitchen. Extensive cabinet lighting is on the rise and is one of the trends to watch. When the lights are switched on, they look not only absolutely amazing but also offer a wonderful cooking experience, remarkable visibility.

The Kitchen Anxiety

“Just Fry”
“Just Microwave on high for 1 minute”
“Ready in just 2 minutes”
“Add boiling water and ready in 3 minutes”

Flooded with Ready To Eats?

The Indian home has been flooded with ready to eat food options and these have become the happy choice of many households. Given the hectic lifestyles and ‘so much to do in such little time’ becoming the repertoire of many homes, people are resorting to ready foods. Does that mean the kitchen loses its importance amongst the rooms in your home?

Doesn’t seem so! The kitchen still rules and is the most important part of any Indian home. It is that part of your home where you need to be in order to prepare the ‘ready to cook’ food or the ‘just fry’ pakoras! The kitchen is still the place for your favourite chai or your steaming idlis. So the kitchen retains its place as the star of the Indian home and is shown off to visitors with great pride. Here is where the Modular Kitchen has suddenly become the must have in the Interior Design plan for your house. The need of the hour is a kitchen with an international design yet functionalities that are suited to Indian homes. Doing up a kitchen is a tough call, because living without a kitchen for even 1 day is a bit difficult for most foodies!

When designing your kitchen, there are many questions and choices to be made. Which layout is right for me? Which colour combination will look best? Solid Wood or High Gloss? Wood Touch or Vintage?
